The City of Bentonville and Downtown Bentonville Inc. will postpone Bentonville Together: A Celebration of Our Multicultural Community until spring 2022. The one-day festival was scheduled for Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm on the Bentonville Square.
The decision comes as the Northwest Arkansas region experiences a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases. State and local health agencies identify Benton County as an area with “extremely high” COVID-19 case levels.
Bentonville Together: A Celebration of Our Multicultural Community is a free community event created by the City of Bentonville’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Community Task Force in partnership with Downtown Bentonville Inc. (DBI).
“Our mission to foster a strong and inclusive community will continue, even as this event has been put on pause temporarily. The Bentonville Together Multicultural Celebration was an idea born from the DEI Community Task Force to support an inclusive community that reflects the rich and diverse experiences and cultures in our city. The event has been organized by and will continue to be planned by the community for the community. We encourage all to find out more about this event and how they can be a part of it in the spring,” said Bentonville Mayor Stephanie Orman.
Although the Bentonville Together event will not be held as scheduled, a planned COVID-19 vaccine clinic will still be available to walk-ins on Saturday, August 21, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (during Bentonville Farmers Market). The clinic will be located at 105 South Main Street. No ID, insurance cards, or reservations are required to receive the vaccine.
“Above all, the health and safety of the community is our top priority, and after much consultation with local and state officials and medical experts, our team concluded that postponing Bentonville Together was the right decision,” said Andrew Heath, Executive Director of Downtown Bentonville Inc.
